A team of final year Mechanical Engineering students of Srinivas Institute of Technology, Valachil came up with a project to revolutionize the task of wall plastering. Mr. Lohith. K.V, Mr. Mahesha P.K, Mr. Prashantha Raj K.V and Mr. Syed Umar under the guidance of Prof. Neelakantha V. Londhe have made an attempt to mechanize cement plastering of walls.
This machine can be used for plastering vertical walls with high efficiency and reducing human effort. It is simple in construction, easy to transport and less expensive. The principle of working is mainly based on chain pulley mechanism. A wall of area 5X4 sq. feet can be plastered within few minutes efficiently. Whereas to plaster the same area manually, more time and labour is required.
Machine consists of two components, a wooden frame and a sheet metal tray. The wooden frame has vertical guide ways on which the tray slides. The free end of the tray carrying cement blend, placed close to the wall through which thickness of the plaster can be adjusted. The vertical movement for the tray is given by a chain pulley mechanism. It causes the tray to move linearly on the guide ways of the frame. As soon as the wall is plastered, the whole equipment can be withdrawn and made to slide over the next wall to be plastered.
The project has been recognized and rewarded in many exhibitions, including the state level project exhibition, SRISHTI-12 conducted by ABVP. Professor and Head Dr.Dilip Kumar K. and Principal Dr. Shrinivas Mayya D. administered the project. Sri. CA A.Raghavendra Rao, President and Sri. A.Srinivasa Rao, Vice President, A.Shama Rao foundation congratulated the students on their success.
