Inauguration of SRISTICA (SRInivas STudents Innovative Civil Association) 2014-15 and “Engineer’s Day Celebration” was organised recently by the Dept. of Civil Engg at Srinivas School of Engineering, Mukka, Mangalore. Er Sri Pankaj Dandwate, Senior Executive of Toyo Engineering Private Ltd. Mumbai, General Site In-charge, ONGC Mangalore Petrochemical Limited Project Site, Mangalore was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function. Dr.Shreeprakash B – Principal, Srinivas School of Engg presided over the function. Dr.Ramakrishna Hegde – Vice Principal & Head of Civil Engineering Dept., Sri. Shrinath Rao K – Associate Professor & Faculty Advisor of SRISTICA, Sri. Rakshith R. Suvarna – President of SRISTICA, Sri. Ashfaque Ali – Secretary of SRISTICA and Sri. Aravind – Vice President of SRISTICA were present on the dais.
Sri. Ashfaque Ali briefed out the activities conducted by SRISTICA in the previous year. Sri. Rakshith R. Suvarna administered the oath to the newly elected Office Bearers of SRISTICA 2014-15. On this occasion, the Local Schedule of Rates prepared by the civil engineering students was released by the Chief Guest. In order to motivate the Civil Engg students, certificates were awarded for the students for achieving top results in the 8th, 6th & 4th semester B.E Civil Engg examination and for the winners of various competitions organised by SRISTICA like Civil Engg model making competition, Pencil sketching of civil engg structures, Video making of civil engg activities and Sand Modeling of Civil Engg Irrigation Structures.
Dr.Ramakrishna Hegde welcomed the Chief Guest and the invitees. Dr.Ramakrishna Hegde has given the overview of aims and objectives of SRISTICA in shaping the career of Civil Engg students of SSE Mukka. Dr.Ramakrishna Hegde said that the activities organised by SRISTICA is helping the civil engg students to enrich their technical knowledge, to develop leadership abilities, to become excel in the field of civil engineering with innovative activities, and these kind of activities will be organised in the coming years too.
In his inaugural address, Chief Guest Er. Sri. Pankaj Dandwate appreciated the efforts put by the management of Srinivas School of Engg and the Dept. of Civil Engg in organising Engineer’s Day celebration and inauguration of SRISTICA-2014. Sri Pankaj Dandwate advised the students to set goal in their life and to achieve the goal with core competence, ability, skill, trust, confidence, ethical values & experience which is of very high importance in the corporate world. Sri. Dandwate said that civil engineering has good demand in the present scenario in transportation, tourism, industrial, urban development and infrastructural development of the nation and it is the duty of civil engineers to contribute to their maximum extent which will benefit the society and the nation at large. Sri. Dandwate congratulated and conveyed best wishes to all the office bearers of SRISTICA 2014-15.
In his Presidential Remarks, Principal Dr.Shreeprakash B. expressed his satisfaction over the activities organised by SRISTICA in the previous years. Dr.Shreeprakash congratulated all the prize winners and advised the students to take active participation in SRISTICA activities and to make the best use of it in order to achieve good leadership abilities and overall personality development.
Associate Professor Shrinath Rao K delivered the Vote of Thanks. Sri. Praneet Kotian and Kum. Hitha were the Master of Ceremony of the inaugural function.
After the inaugural function, a technical talk on “Performance Appraisal of Large Construction Projects” was delivered by Dr. M K Nagaraj, Professor, Dept. of Applied Mechanics & Hydrology, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal. The technical talk was organised by SRISTICA in association with Ramco Cements Limited and Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (I) Mangalore on the occasion of “Engineer’s Day and Techno Week 2014”. Er. Sri. Suraj Kumar Shetty-Technical Manager of Ramco Cements Limited and Er. Sri. Narendra Prabhu of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (I) Mangalore were also present.
